SYWBAS  is on a quest to find the best strippers in South Africa, all conveniently
in time to exploit the 2010 world cup fever.
We will present the world with South Africa’s top finalists by the time the hordes descend on our shores.
One of Amsterdam’s more famous on-line individuals is the Simon Cowell of our show,
and of course our international audience who will be entertained by our contestants blogs and they get to vote!

Do you have what it takes to become the best stripper in SA and later the world?

OK, how does this work? If you want to be featured on this site, send me an email: cilla@soyouwannabeastripper.com. I’ll put your photo and your vital statistics on the blog. If you get enough votes from the visitors, you get your very own weblog, and a gallery in the members area, for free! Apartheid is alive and well and living in South Africa

March 8th, 2010    Posted in Blog

Apartheid just has a new skin colour now.

Somehow I got into politics on Facebook. I hadn’t meant to, it just sorta happened.

funny thing is, this all started on Twitter. I was commenting on something strange that Julius Malema had said, when this Sebastian Charles dude butted in and said that I wasn’t allowed to comment on South African issues because I was Dutch. So I checked him out, and this is one of his tweets:

“white people will always be white people: white, pretentious and racist!”

Another of his tweets: ” I kinda feel bad, the imported Persian Rug I walk across every morning to have breakfast on my 507m high balcony costs sum1s AnnualSalary”

Now I wonder what kind of reaction I’d get if I were to say:

“black people will always be black people: black, pretentious and racist!”

or

“Jewish people will always be Jewish people: Jewish, pretentious and racist!”

Looking at his Twitter pic, actually he doesn’t look entirely black. Actually I think he might be what some people call coloured here, and what other people call you racist for saying, because you have to say Koi or San or something. So maybe he’s just scared, and is trying to stay in with the in-crowd before they notice that he isn’t black enough.

I dunno. I’m dutch, and I grew up believing people were equal. Which made me make a post on Facebook, saying:

“Funny thing I noticed about black people in South Africa: All the black people I’ve met who don’t live in shacks or hovels or cardboards boxes, are racists. Makes one wonder if the only way to be economically successful here is to be a racist.”

And really, that’s totally true. But it started quite a debate on facebook.

A new day, a new stripper

February 9th, 2010    Posted in Blog

Been taking it easy lately…got back from my trip in time to do a photoshoot which didn’t happen, as the model didn’t turn up. Met a girl at a party who is coming over for a shoot in 10 minutes. She’s so cute! Her name is Elmarie, and she’s bringing her boyfriend Deon. I’m going to try and talk both of them out of their clothes…who knows :)

Elmarie looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth…we'll see :)

Vukuzenzele!

February 5th, 2010    Posted in Blog

Vukuzenzele: Wake up and do something!
Apparently that’s what it means. I want to add something:
Vukuzenzele: Wake up and say something!
You’re all being ripped off. Why can I see it when you all can’t?

Back in Jozi

February 3rd, 2010    Posted in Amsterdambabe, Blog

I arrived late afternoon, yesterday. Today at 3 I have a photoshoot, so I didn’t want to spend the night somewhere else. I’d left Durban early, because I didn’t want to go back by the same route, and took the old road. I’m so glad I did, because I saw some weird and wonderful things along the way. Like these magical Makaranga trees near a town called Kloof:

Enchanted trees in a magical forest

And then, this gated community at Hilldene. I haven’t told you about gated communities yet. They call them estates, or townhouses. In effect, it’s a whole bunch of houses enclosed by a wall, with guards, and dogs, and barbed wire (actually not barbed wire, but razor wire, a South African invention, as I was told proudly by a security guard).

Plantations estate

They’re like very luxurious concentration camps. The architecture is often quite oddly at contrast with what you’d expect in Africa.

Weird medieval-looking castles behind razor wire

At a place called Inchanga there is an old railway station where they still have working steam trains, so that tourists can go for a little tour through the countryside in them. They’re beautiful!
I was amazed to hear that steam trains had still been in use until recently.

Steam locomotive

That was the end of the old road though, I had to take the highway from there and carry on to Jozi with no more scenic stops.
And now I’m going to hit the shopping malls :)

Pantyhose, politics and porn

February 1st, 2010    Posted in Amsterdambabe, Blog

So we didn’t leave after breakfast. We tried to, but the Land Cruiser’s fanbelt broke when we started up. Seems like every guy in South Africa is a DIY mechanic, because they all turned to me and demanded my pantyhose. They were all horrified when I told them that I don’t have pantyhose with me…sheesh, I’m camping out in the wild, and it’s HOT, and I’m wearing sandals. “But that’s the only reason to BRING girls on camping trips, to use their pantyhose for fanbelts in emergencies!”, Brian said. I hope he realises that he’s not getting any tonight :P

So they’re off on a pantyhose-finding mission, and I’m sitting here thinking about some of the stuff I’ve learned from them over the past few days. They are not so enthusiastic about the whole Fifa world cup thing. They want me to write about it and tell the world what’s happening in South Africa, and in a way I agree. It’s not all as pretty as it looks, in fact it stinks. I don’t want to write about it on this blog though, as this is for my work for SYWBAS and I don’t want to mix politics with porn, so I’m going to write about it all on http://worldcupstrippers.com/

OK the boys are coming back, triumphantly waving someones underwear, so I guess we’re on our way.
